All they gotta do to save themselves is release another Pokemon rehash. They're fine.

Along with the usual Mario/Zelda :P

Jumping to the conclusion that Nintendo will be royally screwed if the Wii-U fails is somewhat accurate, but just because a console fails doesn't mean that the entire company's ship sinks. They may go the way of Sega; developing games for other consoles, or all of this speculation may be worthless and the Wii-U may conceivably sell well.

While there is no immediate threat, they are the oldest of the big 3 major developers. While time does wear everything down, 6th sense and nintendo's past performances tell me we're going to be seeing our Nintendo Overlords for a LONG time to come. Hail Shigeru Miyamoto!

Though I'm not entirely sure of how much they have lost on the 3DS, there is no way it is that substantial; perhaps it is in the < 5 million range. Almost all hardware manufacturers take on losses when they launch a new console, look at the PS3; it was an expensive and non cost-effective machine, but as time went on it became a formidable gaming platform.

Also, this is a bit of a nitpick. Your posts are becoming somewhat of a pain to read; if you can, please take the time out to proofread and/or spell-check your posts.

Basically. This is Nintendo here. If they're in danger, they'll just toss us a Mario or Zelda rehash and make millions from it. I'm not worried.

With Mario kart 7, the new Mario with the tanooki tail, Luigi's mansion 2, and the new paper mario, people are bound to start buying 3ds's soon. Heck I'm looking more forward to those game (and skyward sword) then anything else at this moment.

Nintendo will find some way out of it, I mean it's Nintendo! I'm pretty sure nobody, and I mean nobody would want to see Nintendo shut down.

People will buy more 3DS's when the next version comes out and there are actually games on it. WiiU will be fine because there's that whole "casual gamer" demographic thing they're aiming towards and there are lots of spoiled kiddos in America. Companies suffer losses all the time, but this is Nintendo we're talking about. They'll be fine.

Though I love Nintendo, I do agree in a way. Nintendo has been missing out on common multiplatform titles for too long, and picking between Nintendo exclusives and Sony exclusives would be too much of a challenge IMO.

Also, Fix'd :-P

I agree on your first and third points, but I'm not quite as sure on the Wii-U.

Not saying that it's definitley gonna tank or anything, but there are some definite drawbacks to it I can already see. Mainly, I fear that people will see it as: A. Too similar to the Wii 1 and B. they are going to price themselves out of a large section of the Casual Market with the tech in it. Also, if they are looking to bring in a profit on the Hardcore Gamers (as I believe they said they wanted to) I just don't know that this system will do that. I fear that the Wii Branding is irrevocably gonna be seen as a Casual Label, and so no matter the new tech in it it won't bring in a substantial amount of Hardcore Gamers. Additionally, the continued lack of 3rd Party Support for Wii 1 will likely continue with Wii-U due to the tech being so different from what Sony and MicroSoft are making.

But again, I agree that more people will buy the 3DS when the price drops and there are actually games on it; plus Nintendo will still be raking in the dough from Casual games on Wii 1 so they will be fine for the forseeable future.

I'm with the couple of people who want to see Nintendo get out of the Console Market and focus purely on Games. I think that they just aren't able to get the big 3rd Party Multi-Platform Games anymore and it's just too expensive to buy a new console just to play the Big N Series' every year. Besides, people love Nintendo for their Games first and foremost anyways lol.

There is nothing currently that suggests Nintendo is in trouble of going out of business. People who say otherwise do not know what they are talking about.

Nintendo almost always sells at a profit (though the 3DS is currently a loss-leader until economies of scale hit), and have very few red quarters. Most companies can only dream about having the profitability record Nintendo has had since going public.

It's all about how Nintendo handles its strategic concerns. Some of them we know, like what sells and what their competitors are doing, and some of it is internal stuff that we don't know about. My biggest concern is a focus on casual gaming in a world full of smartphones and smartphone-based tablets that are more than just gaming devices, yet are capable of casual gaming. Nintendo seems to have noticed this as well, given that they want to recapture the "core" crowd, but I think they still feel they can milk the casual cow some more.

Plus, Nintendo is currently in a transition period. DS and Wii are on their way out, and 3DS and WiiU are on their way in. R&D costs are up, sales are down. Do they have to succeed? Yes. Does that mean they have to outsell the competition? No. They just need to sell enough to maintain profit margins. Increased Market Share is always nice, but not being #1 is not a failure.

The absolute worst thing that could happen at this point is Nintendo going the way of Sega and doing software only, but even that is unlikely.

Now, I am starting to think Nintendo may need new leadership soon. Iwata was the right man for the time he was put in charge, but I'm not so sure he's the right man for the current climate.

Trust me, Nintendo will stay. I mean, I have at least one game from every popular series and believe that all of the people who love Nintendo, anonymously and publicly (like here on SFO) will throw together and help Nintendo in its time of need.

Nintendo is hardy. It even brought it Sega's most popular video game, Sonic, into one of their best selling video games, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They are very smart and fun and will be around for a long time.

But iI know what you mean. I was at the store yesterday and and saw an entire section of Wii U's and bought one just because I felt bad that no one was buying them. And trust me, they're fun. I couldn't believe that no one was buying Wii U's. So, I recomened it to all of my friends.

Back on topic. What I'm saying is, I understand that you are stressed out about Nintendo going broke, and that the Nintendo's Wii U isn't selling. But if you look at it for a while, you see that Nintendo will be around for a very long time and make even more world famous videos games. :-)

As said all up above, Nintendo isn't going anywhere.

What they need to do though, is focus more on the games instead of the consoles. How many cookie-cutter factory games have we seen released for the Wii? And most of those no one even heard of. Sure the Wii has a huge library, but only a few of them are actually good XP

Nintendo has been around as a company since 1889.

Just thought I'd add this to everyone's "Nintendo isn't going anywhere" dialouge.

...and selling playing cards, no doubt.

Playing cards are awesome! It's what families and kids used to do for fun before this thing called the Internet and video/computer games came into existence.

Nintendo also ran love hotels for Japanese couples who couldn't have privacy due to living with parents. But that's another story.

Yeah, Nintendo aren't going anywhere. They'll be just fine.
