Looks pretty silly to me, but we'll just have to see if this catches on

I actually think that this kind of technology seems awesome; the feel that you're sitting 20 feet away from a 700 inch 3D television sounds worth it to me. The cost may be a problem, but the look is sleek and with a bit more tweaking I believe that this could catch on.

The fact that one day you'll be able to sit down and play a game on that, while moving your head to look around the virtual world, is quite awesome. Can't wait for it to be out for a few years for it's price to lower a bit to something I can afford :)

I think the facepalm is a *teensy* bit unwarranted; this piece of technology actually holds some promise [unlike the Virtual Boy] and many features that it contains are actually quite innovative and new. If they can bring costs down in the future I'd certainly consider one of these headsets over a new television; that way others can enjoy the older TVs while I game silently and in awe! :D

The part of the article where it says it "looks like something ripped out of a Japanese anime" seems true. It looks like the headset from the .Hack// series. Something tells me if I where this and die in a game, I'll end up being in a coma.

Nintendo: Hello lawsuit.

They wouldn't really be able to do much; this is a strap-on visor that uses OLED technology to produce 3D effects. The Virtual Boy was a freestanding "binocular-like" system in which you would have press your eyes against. That, and it was only red/black in color and in display.

Personally, I would've liked if this Sony visor had alternate color options; I would've preferred black as everything from Sony I own is black. :P

Sony is just grasping at straws to try to remain relevant in the CE industry. LG and Samsung are eating their lunch. Sony wants to return to the 1990s where they were the kings of electronics, and they feel they can do so with things like this. Sorry, but it ain't happening. Even Toshiba and Panasonic are matching their quality at the high-end, and for a fraction of the price.
