Steve
I saw this on IGN today and I pretty went all "....wut?" http://wii.ign.com/articles/121/1215301p1.html For all those that don't know, a Zelda encyclopedia is being released in japan and apparently, the much cryptic, official timeline is being explained there. While this is still not official (like the article says, reports from japan, blahblah, needs to be fully scanned and whatnot), the whole idea of three time-lines is just mind blowing. We also need the scans of course.
Icy
Ah, I meant to start a topic for this yesterday but forgot. Big news, yes. It was originally reported to be just a "Zelda art book" but then some scans showed up and people translated them and it turned out it was more of an encyclopedia. A lot of rumors and some such nonsense has been going around for the last two days, but here is all anyone needs to see: http://www.newninten...spilled-branch/ Pretty interesting. Have to say I didn't even consider such a third timeline. It works, though. (As much as it can. I mean, surely they didn't expect it to have this crazy timeline stuff pre-Ocarina of Time, right? They had to make it all fit somehow) Of course, now, a lot of Nintendo reps have already said in the past that they had no plans to release the timeline, especially not this soon. Nintendo could come back and say "this is a possibility" or "not necessarily the real timeline" yadayada… I just hope this damn book will be released in places other than Japan! I want a copy for myself… in English.
Star Fox Runner
I've been following this on Zelda Dungeon for a while now. These translations lead us to believe that there are three timelines. I've always believed in the split timeline theory, but three? That's pushing it. But it would solve some discrepancies like where A Link to the Past would fit in, because it just doesn't really fit in the Twilight Princess line or the Wind Waker line. I also hope this ends up translated and brought over here, I would LOVE to own this baby!
Fluxy
I remember reading about it, but nothing more than some scrap information. If a time line, so to speak, can be revealed, that'd be pretty nice to see; At least, It'd give me some innovation to replay the games in their respective time line -and- order in said time line. I'd do it just for the fun.
Furygun81
Finally, the forbidden knowledge will be made available to us. Back in 2008 there existed a video about this very topic. NSFW WARNING
Sarita
Here ya go, guys, translated from the book. Link in case you never want to know. http://tdwgeeks.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/zelda_timeline.jpeg

Deploy
This timeline is incredibly interesting. It makes a lot of sense.
Pgpaw3
I will admit that although this is very interesting, I am still skeptical, mainly because it insinuates that Link is defeated in OOT. That said it could also represent a hypothetical 'what if' timeline. The other reason is people are pointing out flaws in the timeline. And it seems odd that Nintendo is so adamant to keep it a secret and says that there is only 2 timeline splits, then randomly reveals it and introduces a 3rd split. So although it looks reliable I will probably wait for official confirmation of more information before believing this fully.
Steve
So although it looks reliable I will probably wait for official confirmation of more information before believing this fully. The whole zelda encyclopedia is indeed full of stuff from nintendo, which means it's supposed to be official. Whatever is there, either came from an official script or Miyamoto himself. Who knows, but it's the real thing at least (as real as it gets). On the bright side, the whole timeline opens a HUGE world of possibilities for new games. Xidphel
Here's my take on the timeline: SHUT UP AND DON'T QUESTION IT! THE GAMES ARE AWESOME!
