Quoux's other random art

Quoux

Recommended Posts

Hey, so this is my thread for all my other pieces of random artwork that happen to be drawn. I don't draw incredibly often, but I try to draw whenever I can. Every once in a while I'll shade them on the computer, but I am not very good at it. I'm practicing, though! For all the other work I don't have on here, I have my deviantArt page here: http://quoux.deviantart.com/.

Don't know how I thought of this one; it was mainly for posture study.

This is concept art for my novel. It's a lantern fish; it digests foods and an organ in it's body converts certain protreins and starches into bioluminesence. You would think that this creature lived in the deep, but due to the bouyancy of the bioluminescent fluid, it stays relatively close to the top.

This is a character I created named Angelica. She is a human, but is blessed so she has honorary wings and pure white eyes. The appearance of the wings are optional for her, so she can make them visible or not.

This is a robot I drew, I was thinking of a steampunk storyline when this happened. (To be truthful, I was thinking of Bioshock Big Daddies) And I was NOT thinking of Iron Giant >:{} Everyone thinks the face looks like it!

And also, is there another way to post artwork? Like, to make it fullview on the post?

Yeah, if you use [ IMG ][ /IMG ] tags (minus the spaces, of course) and just past the URL of the picture where you've uploaded it on Deviant Art, it'll post the image normally.

Anywho, on to the artwork. Once again, I'm impressed. Specifically by the badass duelist and the robot. Me gusta.

Great, thanks! I didn't know you could link it like that, that is a good idea.

Yeah, I also specifically like the duelist and robot.

I really like this! The Duelist is really well done, especially the feel and pose. If anything, I'd suggest the hat being a bit angled more back. Assuming he's wearing the hat right, that angle makes his neck look like it's in an uncomfortable position. Just lifting the tip of the hat a bit would make it look a lot better; Not that it isn't great already!

The lantern fish looks pretty good, just, compared to the other pieces, rather simple. Not much more I could say than maybe play a bit heavier with the shading/textures that you already have.

Now then, Angela is very interesting. A great concept and look, but the one thing i'd suggest is to make the legs skinnier, as it makes her look a bit, well, chibish/youngerish. Not sure how to describe it better, sorry.

And I'd say for the for the robot, I have to say well done. Sure, the chest and plates could have more detail, but I think the simple nature of that, mixed with the extreme detailed inner linings makes it have a huge boost with my steam punk likes.

Overall, Well done!

Thanks! I'm glad you liked all of them that much!

I know what you mean for Angelica. I have a 1000 times better one (No pun intended,) that I drew for my "thanks for 1000 views" on dA, but the situation pertains only to dA so I didn't put that picture here. That one there is the first one I drew, and I desperately need to go back and thin the legs for sure.

Woah! That's some really good artwork you've got there, Quoux!; I especially like that last one. The various bits of machinery are rather fun to admire. ^_^

Seconded! :P

It's in the first paragraph of the topic, you derps :-P

That just goes to show how terrible my reading comprehension skills have become, . If that's the case, what -else- haven't I noticed? O_o

Hey, thanks for the watching! I promise to return the favor :-) Don't worry, I also have terrible reading comprehension. Except it spread to my writing too; you will probably notice the various mispelled words I scatter about.

Also, I have some more stuff here,

These are soldiers from my comic "Chronicles of Joe" Which have sucky artwork so I won't be putting them here. Currently, they aren't in the comic so they are just floatin' around.

Not bad considering my skill level is far below the threshold set by your art; I definitely like the work put into motion-blur and shading! ^_^

Don't worry, it appears our obliviousness and idiocy match up quite well!

Thanks! No, you don't draw that bad? You are actually quite good!

Here's something I'm working on:

If you've ever played Bioshock, you should certainly recognize this. This is just a sketch, I plan on shading and coloring it, but here is the idea. I was playing Bioshock 2 as the Big Daddy, when I came across a Creme-filled cake (yes, it's creme) and it said I could eat it. I thought that a Creme-filled cake sounded pretty fancy, and then I got this image...

Yeah, I don't know either :P

^ :lolhyst: That's actually quite funny, though I don't believe he's worked out how he's going to eat that cake through that helmet. I'd have to say that although I have not played Bioshock, the fellow reminds me of the now incredibly old diving suits;

Yeah, they used those types of suits form that era as references.

I have the finished version that I just completed here:

This took long enough, but at least it was WAY better than expected! As you know, I really cannot color, and as such I can't explain this 0.0

Coloring sucks, that said, you did nicely. Only thing really is the shading, and pffft, rare when anyone can even get that down perfectly. Last night Tailz was telling me how he saw a professionally done picture, and had a few shading errors. And this was like, good professional work. Lol

Proffessionals these days, huh? And thanks, I really didn't expect this outcome, especially using Gimp which I adore for being free, and yet hate utility wise.

Hey I've been a bit busy lately because I've been running the Ask Pilot blog for Romantically Apocalyptic. You guys should either check out the comic at: www.rom.ac or go to the ask blog at www.ask-pilot.tumblr.com

And meanwhile, some really cheap artwork of two characters from my next comic I'm working on.

Phew, finally got a tablet and practised with it a bit. Bam, here's something for you to look at while I become active.

Fascinating work you have up here! I cannot believe I did not notice this until now. As for criticism, I do see some mistakes, but I also see big potential. My advice would be to keep practicing, and ironing out those pesky kinks.

Well, thank you! you probably hadn't noticed it because I let it fall into terrible inactivity. And thanks for the advice, I do try to practice as much as possible!

Heres another little thing. Just some mecha sketches.

I'm working on a non-star fox comic, and when I finish the first page (hopefully tomorrow) I would love to there y'all's feedback.

Comic page 1 is almost done. Anyway, here is a girl from the comic that ends up joining the main group.

The comic is... well it's an interesting concept. Where as not meaning to be religious, I used religion for the backstory, which I might explain later. It takes place on "Earth", although it's very different from ours. VERY different. Reason being is people can become super powerful, and if they get powerful enough, nature may choose them to be a god. However, the act of obtaining this power will define what they preside over, and what that is will become their name. For instance, the main protagonist, Insanity, who is the god of insanity. There are many others, though, Peace, Arachnophobia, Wrath, Mischief, Merchantilism, etc. Besides gods, people can become Fates, but there can only be three and there already are three: Solemn Fate, Joyous Fate, Dreadful Fate.

The main character, Quoux (heehee) is a human who's village hamlet was destroyed by Insanity and his disciples. His parents both presumably died, his father who is a great swordsman staying back to face Insanity himself in order to give his wife and son time to flee, and his mother killed by Insanity after giving her son Quoux to an escaping monk. The monk took Quoux to the Monastery (A Christian monastery, which is the last Christian place remaining in the world) and he learned how to be a "monk" from there. Truth is, he was actually something else entirely different, which they find out soon. He is destined for something greater. After running tests, they learn he is to be the one to enter the Holy of Holies and to meditate in it for 100 years non-stop. In that shrine, nothing ages, and food nor water nor sleep is needed to live. You could stay there forever, which is why it is the perfect place for this, however it is sacred to them so not just anyone is allowed to enter. He learns incredible powers of his mind by unlocking them, such as power gates, increased speed, increased energy, increased recognition, increased learning, increased strength, increased sight, increased memory, increased hearing, increased smell, and the ability to extend his mind from his body, for instance being able to tell everything around him and even feel the thoughts of others, and a few other tricks. His main goal for doing this was to become a beacon of help and pure goodness, and to protect the monk's monotheistic beliefs. 100 years later, Quoux awakens from the presence of pure evil. He exits the shrine to find that there are no monks anywhere to be found, and not even bodies. However, he can sense im-balances all over the world, some worse than others. Quoux then sets off from the Monastery down a dusty road, continuing the quest he swore to uphold, as the last member of an old religion.
