I was wondering if anyone here is aware of the Irwin Rathore attempted Starfox Movie. What do you think of it? Is it still in production? or did he quit?

Was he ever in contact with anyone the way Fredphox was/is? I read a little somewhere that it has kind of a goofy plot/ characterization..... but it is still in development... so too early to judge?

it's not going to happen, man

Rathore is not interested in actually making a Star Fox movie. He's interested in getting attention for making a Star Fox movie. Why he chose Star Fox as his attention-getting vehicle and not something more, y'know, popular is a mystery only the Large Hadron Collider can solve, but the only thing that even keeps him going is the little scraps of attention he occasionally gets thrown, such as, you know, here.

Either way, his movie isn't going to happen because Nintendo has told him to do anatomically impossible things to himself. So although this "movie" of his was, is, and forever shall be an attention-getting ploy, even if it wasn't, it still wouldn't happen.

Uno basically said all I need to say just in short-form, you can find the long-form answer here.

tl;dr the guy is an attention-seeking grognard that has no idea what he's doing and last I heard from him he was whining about having no updates on Facebook. Oh, he also demanded I post his stuff on my Tumblr by acting like he was some sort of Star Fox mafia, and then pretended it wasn't him after I ripped his ass off. Good times.

A Star Fox movie presented in the way Rathore has done, yes. It is not impossible; just for him it is.

Sonichu is impossible for a good other number of reasons but primarily "Sonichu is fucking stupid" gets the best of it.

I dunno if Rathore is really gonna do it. I had listened to his 1 hour video over his project on his youtube channel months ago, here is the link.

If hes really going to stay dedicated to do it he needs a smart team. He needs to do it right. Listen to the fans opinions', etc. I also don't know if he had anybody yet to help him out on his project. All he is so far just a director with some art work of his displayed on FB & youtube...

I still like the idea of a Star Fox movie. But whose really gonna step up to the plate to do it right?

He's chatted with me a couple of times just randomly on Facebook - kinda creepy.

This was after I asked for his reasoning as to why Krystal wasn't in this movie.

Why didn't he include krystal? There should be a Starfox movie, I agree, it just will have to be far less linear than the story of starfox 64.

Perhaps two parts, one part fox as middle/high schooler, second part as 25-30. More things need to be accomplished on planets than just " shoot everything." Also it might answer the question as to who raised Fox after James dissapeared, Peppy, some uncle, or somebody else?

I can't remember the specifics but it was something along the lines that her character wouldn't flow or whatever the same reasons Rathore uses to not include any fan feedback in his "perfect" script. >_>

The guy may be an asshole, but we all know alot of great assholes. Im personally not too keen on his script however... just dosent seem Starfox-y enough. Iunno what it is about the whole project but something just seems off about it in general, may just be foresight or something, but still, something iffy about it. Only time will tell what becomes of it.

It's iffy because it's GRIMDARK XTREME STARFAC with a capoeria-using "Slippery Toad" included, written by a white guy that refers to himself as "Eiga Kantoku Irwin Rathore" and uses a photo of his face with LEGENDARY VISION scribbled all over it as a profile picture.

The fact that he OMG DIDN'T INCLUDE KRYSTAL ;____; is the absolute-goddamned-least of his problems; the argument that "well lots of starfac fans liek krystal derp derp" is invalidated by the fact that an actual Star Fox movie would have to gain an audience outside the pathetically minimal remnants of the fandom, and a hastily-concocted shoehorned-in piece of psychic ass won't do a 90-minute animated sci-fi adaptation--something hard as hell to get made to begin with--any favours. In fact, the lack of her in the script is by far the only thing on which I actually agree with Rathore.

besides which, as far as the general public would be concerned, you'd be pitching some kind of grimdark sci-fi Disney movie.

seriously. anthro characters like those of Star Fox are the province of cartoons as far as the public is concerned. and when someone comes along saying that they can singlehandedly redefine what x means to a culture, well, i kind of want to see them try just for the pleasure of watching them wriggle helplessly under the ruthless crushing grip of reality before the life is finally squeezed out of their delusions.

I think the closest-to-Star-Fox movie out there is Titan A.E., which bombed in the theatres. So, you imagine where the hesitation comes from when you combine something funny like talking animals in space ships with gruesome war. A Star Fox movie would have to, unfortunately, be "kiddified" quite a bit to work. Ergo, the exact opposite direction that Rathore has taken it.

That is, granted, "kiddifying" it would be the safe way. Pulling off a mature (not DARK) animated Star Fox movie would be possible, but it would take some kind of genius to not only convince the studios to do so (they'd probably have to be an industry veteran in good standing, honestly) but to actually do it well. That kind of genius is not the guy spewing about his LEGENDARY VISION on Facebook and posting butthurt angsty status updates when people don't agree.

I decided to post here instead of starting another thread.

Possible second chance for Rathore? Check out his second video. Link

He hasn't really gone anywhere with the project that much. Yet his plans are still there. Nintendo that turned him down 2 times now Rathore turns to us. He wants us fans to sign some form of a petition towards Nintendo to launch off the Starfox Film project if we really want a Star Fox movie. What do you guys think about it? Do you think that he may have a second chance to do it? Or it's coming to an ending fail?

Ragey rage rage

Snarky snark snark

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the general consensus on this forum is that Rathore is full of shit.

oh good another hour-long video where Rathore talks about how awesome he is instead of getting anything accomplished, that's definitely what I want to see

no

Nintendo turned him down because he has no experience directing, has no funding, and his idea is garbage. Crying at Nintendo will not force them to greenlight his glorified fanfiction. They are not turning him down because they're big meaniepantses that don't want to listen to the little guy. They have their legitimate reasons for denying him, and the maaaaybe fifty signatures he'll manage to grab will certainly not convince them to piss millions of dollars into what they know is a bad idea. Rathore's process is laughable and quite substantially insane. He is continuing his pathetic ploy of taking everything Star Fox is not, claiming it's Star Fox, then demanding Nintendo themselves gold-plate his shit because he's right and you're not because he went to film school and you know I went to a much better film school than him and it STILL means jack all. He is essentially telling Nintendo that THEY are WRONG because they do not like or trust what he is doing with their intellectual property, and that in itself is enough of a red flag to stay the hell away from this guy.

Precisely why the rest of us can't have nice things; those attention-grabbers ruin it for everyone.

I wouldn't say that. If someone with experience, a team, and a damn good idea (and a source of funding, mind you) it is fully within the realm of possibility that Nintendo would give the go-ahead. That being said, Rathore has none of those things.

That's what I meant by that; how often does someone with decent experience and an actual coherent plotline approach a company like Nintendo for a movie-deal? It is extremely rare for any company IMO.

Even his facebook page makes me sick. He's actually so full of it, calling himself "Director"... it's embarrassing, actually.
