DZComposer
For the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo sponsored the creation of a four-movement symphony based on the music from the series. Music from the symphony in addition to other tracks by the same arranger have been performed in Los Angeles and have been recorded for the pack-in CD with Skyward Sword. I had tickets to a concert in Dallas last night, which I assumed would be mostly the music on the CD plus a little extra. What it actually was was the first performance of the entire work! As far as orchestra concerts go, it was a bit on the short side (Most orchestras play two "sets" in a concert, a symphony usually counts as a set), but it was fun. It was synced to video from the games. The symphony is touring, and if it will be near you check it out. If you have a 3DS, take it. You'll get a shit-ton of street pass tags. The recordings are not exactly the same music. There is new stuff in it. The Meyerson concert hall in Dallas is amazing, and hearing the Dallas Symphony Orchestra with a choir behind them in this hall was stunning. If any of you were there, check your street pass tags and see if you tagged me!

DZComposer
Brb, crying forever because the UK sucks. Glad you had an awesome time, DZ! You're gonna hate hearing this, but they had a performance in London shortly after the LA performance. Hmm... I just noticed it is coming to Austin, which is closer to me than Dallas.... I think I'll go see it again! :troll:

Icy
DZ, I'm jelly. I wanted to go to the Dallas one but it just wasn't going to happen. I haven't checked all the tour dates yet but I am doing that in a minute. I will NOT miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. Gotta find a way to get to one of the concerts. Glad you enjoyed it. Nice hearing your thoughts on it!
chaos_Leader
Dammit, the closest to me is San Francisco, and I'm not even near the state at the time. Meanwhile, my Brother in Montreal Canada isn't going to have to go far at all...
Sylum
Hmmm Austin you say? I think I might have to roadtrip out there from Louisiana. Just saying but the Gerudo Valley off the Skyward Sword cd is insanely epic.
Xidphel
Wait. You said it's on the CD? Well... I GUESS I won't need to go to the show since I got the full pre-order bonus... Unless it comes close to Ottawa.
DZComposer
Only some of the music is on the CD. The CD also contains music that was not performed at the concert. While most of the CD cuts come from the symphony, there ARE differences. The only direct things from the CD played were the Fairy Fountian (Tough harp parts, and I could tell the harpists did not get a lot of rehearsal time with it) and the Gerudo Valley. They may play different pieces for encores at different performances, though. I loved the concert. I seriously may go to Austin and see it again. I just need to get money first... I get paid Feb 1, and I just got my W2 (Tax refund time!)...
