XG Fox Posted October 11, 2005 Share Posted October 11, 2005 Probably not as much as 3ds Max, which I want SO bad. That program costs $7000 PLUS. AND THAT'S AN OUTDATED VERSION, Version 4.2. XG Fox Posted October 11, 2005 Share Posted October 11, 2005 Hahahaha, my school has 4 copies of 3ds Max 4.2 educational version (cheaper, of course... because it's an abbreviated version), 1 copy of 3ds Max 5, 1 of 3ds Max 6, and 1 of 3ds Max 7. Most of those were free, as Autodesk (the makers of 3ds Max and AutoCAD) sponsor FIRST robotics competition, and my school participates in that, so we get 1 copy of the latest and greatest (FULL VERSION, no less) FREE OF CHARGE. And other than that, 3ds Viz, (also made by Autodesk, but it's cheaper I think, but more geared for architectural work than straight up 3d) will suffice just fine instead of 3ds Max 4.2, because they're nearly the same. That room ALONE is worth more than probably 3/4 of the SCHOOL it has so much technology crammed in there. The school has its own server, and each student has a hard drive to save files to, but then again... THAT ROOM HAS ITS OWN SERVER. Program costs + kick ass computers + more programs + other stuff + more stuff = some astronomical amount of money.
